City Manager Adam Ruechel Appointed to League of Wisconsin Municipalities Board
Platteville City Manager Adam Ruechel was appointed to the League of Wisconsin Municipalities Board of Directors, bringing his experience in local government to the statewide governing body. The League is comprised of more than 600 members, representing both small and large cities and villages in rural and urban Wisconsin.
“I can’t begin to put into words how humble I am to have been appointed to serve as a League of Wisconsin Municipalities Board of Directors Member. This truly is a tremendous honor to represent the City of Platteville, as well as southwestern Wisconsin in advocating our communities struggles and accomplishments. I can’t wait to hear how the board currently works with league staff to achieve the goals and initiatives which are already in place, and how we can determine paths and opportunities to complete future endeavors,” said Ruechel.
In 2022-23 the League’s 16-member Board will be working to set the strategic direction for the League at a critical time in the organization’s history. Cities and villages are facing challenging circumstances due to a broken system of funding local government. Wisconsin municipalities of all sizes face a critical need to provide vital services, including EMS, police and fire services, to their community.
Adam was born and raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He earned his bachelor’s degrees in Political Science & Public Administration and has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Adam worked in the private sector for a number of years doing concert/event management, insurance, and working in the accounting field. He changed course and became the Assistant to the Administrator with the Village of Hobart, Village Administrator for the Village of Marshall and most recently he serves as the City Manager for the City of Platteville. In his spare time, Adam loves spending time with his wife Jeni and kids Chloe, Ava, Gabe and their dog Memphis. He is a die-hard sports fan and loves going to Packer games with his dad.
