City Parking Regulations and Maps

The Platteville Police Department is responsible for enforcing the parking regulations as adopted by the Platteville Common Council.  The rules and regulations pertaining to parking are found in Chapter 39 of the Platteville Municipal Code.

The following is a list of the common parking regulations in Platteville:

  • 48 hour parking: Unless otherwise designated as having a shorter time limit all city street have a parking restriction of 48 hours.  No vehicle can remain parked in violation of this 48 hour limit.

  • No Parking 3am to 6am in Downtown Business District:  This downtown business district is bordered and includes both sides of the streets of Water Street, Furnace Street, Elm Street and Pine Street.

  • No Parking within 4 feet of driveways and private roadways: No vehicle shall block or park closer than 4 feet to any public or private driveway or private roadway.  Drivers parking their vehicles should pay particular attention to this during the winter months following recent snowfalls that make it difficult to identify the driveways.

  • No Parking against traffic: It is against the law to park against the flow of traffic.

  • Winter Parking Regulations: Winter parking regulations are enforced from November 15th to April 1st each year.  Please see the Winter Parking Regulations below for more detail.

  • City Permit Parking (University Area):   Specific streets in the city are designated as permit parking areas near campus.  There are numerous signs that alert drivers to these restrictions. The permit required is a City Parking Permit (not a campus parking permit) and are only issued to homeowners in the permit parking area.
