The Platteville Police Department is now Accredited!

It took longer than we originally projected but the Platteville Police Department achieved accreditation through the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group (WILEAG) in 2021.  We are very proud of this accomplishment and it took a total team effort from everyone at the PD for us to accomplish it.  Outwardly very little will appear different to the public due to our accreditation status but everything about how we do business internally has been scrutinized by the WILEAG assessors.  During an intense three day audit, all of our policies, practices and procedures were examined and the determination was made that we met all of the over two hundred standards which apply to our department.  The assessors interviewed staff, toured the PD, observed shift briefings, and held a public meeting on our accreditation efforts. The finding of compliance with the accreditation standards means our policies, practices and procedures are in line with Federal and State law, current case law, and the best practices in the field of law enforcement.  We had to provide documentation of compliance with the standards and moving forward we will need to provide further documentation to maintain our accreditation status.  Overall, we believe accreditation will help us continue to deliver quality, professional service to our community.
