The Platteville Police Department has been re-Accredited!

The Platteville PD was notified in January 2025 that we have again successfully met all the required standards of the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group (WILEAG) and as a result we have been accredited for a second 3-year term.  We are very pleased to have achieved this status again and we consider it to be a validation of the efforts of all the staff at the PD. To achieve full accreditation, agencies must comply with 262 standards and provide ongoing documentation of this compliance. The standards detail the best professional practices in the field of law enforcement, and they are deemed to be essential to the protection of life, safety, and the rights of citizens. Everything about how we do business internally was scrutinized by the WILEAG assessors during our 3-day audit in October 2024. The finding of compliance with the accreditation standards means our policies, practices and procedures are in line with Federal and State law, current case law, and the best practices in the field of law enforcement.  Overall, we believe accreditation will help us continue to deliver quality, professional service to our community.
