The City of Platteville strives to provide excellence in all of its services. Here are just some of the accolades that represent a small portion of the recognition we've received.
Platteville, WI – The City of Platteville today was presented with their 2020 Community and Economic Development Award (CEDA) for the Pioneer Square project. Platteville won the CEDA award in the Public Private Partnership category, which recognizes projects, programs or initiatives that have been successful due to exceptional collaboration between the public and private sectors. The award was initially announced at the 2020 CEDA Awards ceremony, which was held virtually on Sept. 16, 2020.
University of Wisconsin-Platteville (September 21, 2020) - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville and the Southwestern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (SWWRPC) have been selected as co-applicants to receive a highly competitive grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration that will bring nearly $1.1 million of new investment to the region.

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — Social justice may not come to mind when one thinks of the lead mining boom of the Driftless Region of Wisconsin from 1826-1848. Yet, this is precisely what a University of Wisconsin-Platteville history class and staff did, through a special collaborative project with The Mining & Rollo Jamison Museums in Platteville.
Platteville WI (April 26, 2019) – Platteville, WI was named a 2019 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management.
The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters.
Chicago, Illinois (July 9, 2018) – Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) is pleased to announce that City of Platteville, Wisconsin, has received GFOA's Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its budget. This is the second year in a row that City has received this award.
The City of Platteville took top honors in the Best Public-Private Partnership category for the Library Block Redevelopment Project at the Wisconsin Main Street Awards hosted by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC). The award was accepted by Eileen Nickels, President of the City of Platteville Common Council. The awards ceremony recognized the efforts by Wisconsin Main Street volunteers and staff for their historic preservation and downtown economic deveopment efforts of communities in Wisconsin in 2017.
The Mining & Rollo Jamison Museums are excited to announce that they have been awarded a $24,954 Institute for Museums and Library Sciences (IMLS) Museums for American grant to support care for collections. The Museums will improve the stewardship of their collections by devoting a full year to focused cataloging and rehousing activities.
The City of Platteville is pleased to announce that the Library Block Project has received a 2017 Community and Economic Development Award (CEDA) in the Public-Private Partnership category. CEDAs are given by the Wisconsin Economic Development Association (WEDA) and recognize outstanding and innovative development projects that significantly enhance the economic revitalization of a specific area or community.

City of Platteville’s Mining & Rollo Jamison Museums One of 89 National Endowment for the Arts "Our Town" Projects Selected Nationwide
Our community has recently been informed that the Rountree Branch Trail and Pecatonica State Trail project (Moving Platteville Outdoors paving and lighting project) has won a 2017 Coalition for Recreational Trails (CRT) award in the Engaging Public Sector Partners category.
The awards will be presented in Washington, D.C. in the Rayburn House Office Building (2253) on Capitol Hill on June 14 at 5:00 (reception to follow).
National non-profit KaBOOM! is honoring Platteville with a 2017 Playful City USA designation for the fourth consecutive year (only three other Wisconsin cities have reached that milestone!). Playful City USA honors cities and towns across the country for putting the needs of families first so kids can learn, grow and develop important life skills. These communities are transforming ordinary places into playful spaces and using play as a solution to the challenges facing their residents.
Wisconsin Rural Partners, Inc., a statewide non-profit corporation has awarded the Moving Platteville Outdoors David Canny Rountree Branch Trail project with one of four statewide honors as a Top Rural Development Initiative for 2017. The ceremony took place on Thursday, April 20th at the Heidel House Resort and Spa in Green Lake.
