City of Platteville Expresses Gratitude for Fire Facility Donation
The City of Platteville extends its sincere thanks to the Fire Facility Fundraising Committee, co-chaired by Paul Budden and John Fick, and to Inspiring Communities Inc., for their extraordinary support on behalf of city and township taxpayers.

Their generous contribution of $1.5 million has made a lasting impact—enhancing the new Fire Facility with features that reflect deep appreciation for our dedicated volunteer firefighter force and a strong sense of pride in our community.

Platteville’s first organized fire protection came about in 1874.  After a disastrous fire on the night of April 15, 1874,  a paper was circulated and signed by some 60 businessmen of the village to meet and form an organization to protect the village against fire.  On May 6, 1874, a committee met in the town clerk’s office and drew up an application to the village board for the organization of the Hook & Ladder No. 1.

Below is the only type of siren you may hear in the City of Platteville.  All sirens are tested every first Wednesday of the month during the noon hour.
