City of Platteville Receives Grants for Community Projects

PLATTEVILLE, WI (November 8, 2018) – The City of Platteville announces that it has received grants from the Carmen and Eva Beining Community Fund and the Platteville Community Fund, components of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, Inc. to support three community projects: Roundabout Landscaping, Auditorium Screen, and Educational Materials for the Museums.

The focus of the Roundabout Landscaping project is to create a landscaping design that makes the Markee Avenue roundabout more appealing and give visitors a welcoming first impression to the city.  This project will be supported by the Carmen and Eva Beining Community Fund.

The Auditorium Screen project, which is also supported by the Carmen and Eva Beining Community Fund, will consist of the installation of an already owned large movie screen on a fly away system in the Platteville Municipal Auditorium.  The new screen will be used for future film screenings, speaker presentations, and theater productions.

Funding to support the Educational Materials project was awarded to the Friends of the Mining & Rollo Jamison Museums from the Platteville Community Fund.  This project will complete adding expert voice-over narration to an educational video for the nearly 10,000 annual visitors and organize the educational program materials for school field trips, Young Pioneers, Heritage Days, Historic Re-enactment, and all other seasonal special events.

The City of Platteville would like to sincerely thank the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin for their support with these projects.
