City of Platteville Seeks New City Manager

Platteville is seeking an innovative and visionary city manager to lead its talented leadership team and assist the City Council in building upon the community’s successes. Platteville is a progressive and growing community located in southwestern Wisconsin and is a 20-minute drive east of Dubuque and an hour west of Madison. It is home to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville serving over 6,400 students on-campus. Platteville has a vibrant downtown, a large business park and is a regional market center. Starting salary range $115K-$135K plus excellent benefits, DOQ. Seven (7) Council members elected on a non-partisan basis for three year terms.  $32.8 Operating Budget including Utilities and Three (3) active Tax Incremental Finance Districts (TIF). 74 FT and 200+PT and seasonal  employees. Future emphasis on Housing Plan implementation; Long-Range Financial Plan implementation including replacing aging infrastructure; New Fire Station Construction and City Museum Campus improvements; City Hall Remodeling (Phase 3); continuation of Task Force for Inclusivity, Diversity and Equity (TIDE) projects, and development/implementation of a number of intergovernmental partnerships. 

Require Bachelor’s Degree in public or business administration or related field; prefer Master’s Degree with five (5) years of progressive municipal supervisory experience.  ICMA-CM credential is a plus. Residency is encouraged. Desire a strong background in municipal finance, particularly budgeting and debt financing including TIF; capital improvement planning and execution; economic development facilitation/coordination; intergovernmental relations; housing development and staff development.  The successful candidate should have a high level of both personal and professional integrity; be a team builder and leader in addressing community issues and problems; have a collaborative style in carrying out Council policies; demonstrate a high level of emotional intelligence; possess open and positive communication skills; have a strong commitment to public service and the ability to cultivate positive and productive relationships with the city council, staff, citizens and educational institutions.
