Platteville Public Library Author Reading with Rand Atkinson To Be Held Friday, July 8, 2022
The Platteville Public Library, 225 W Main St, Platteville (Wis), will host local author Rand Atkinson at 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. July 8 at the Library.
Former Platteville resident Rand Atkinson will share from his book Revolt: Practical Ecology to Save Planet Earth for Our Children. His collection of essays and stories lead to questions about how everyday actions affect nature and the Earth, and what individuals can do to make it better for future generations.
Registration is not required. For more information, visit plattevillepubliclibrary.org/calendar or call the library at 608-348-7441 x 4.
Atkinson is an ecologist, teacher, environmental consultant, fish farmer, and seeker of knowledge about the natural world. His life-long adventure and accumulation of awareness led him to write this book of concern and direction.
Atkinson graduated as a field biologist at the beginning of the 1970s environmental movement and quickly became immersed in water law, ecological assessments, and a need to feed the world responsibly. With his passion of following Aldo Leopold’s land ethics he started companies to evaluate and restore aquatic systems, rear native plants, and grow fish sustainably. Eventually, he passed down his knowledge as an adjunct professor in restoration and reclamation.
Atkinson currently resides in the Northwoods of Wisconsin where he can observe and enjoy the land just out the door of his cabin. From there he continues to seek and write about the intersection of nature and humankind with hope
