Soil: It's More Than Just Dirt

Calendar Date:
Saturday, March 15, 2025 - 1:00pm to 2:30pm

The program will examine the features and benefits of healthy soil and explore how to promote healthy soil in their growing space. Healthy soil increases the flavor and nutrient value of food, improves resistance to disease and insect pests, reduces soil erosion, and supports the life of beneficial bacteria and fungi. The participants will be able to use the information in their gardens during the upcoming growing season.

The presenter, Gary Munson, is an active member of the Platteville Community Garden. He experiments with various healthy gardening methods and has conducted workshops on straw bale gardening, cover crops for home gardens, and composting.
