Mine Day to be Held on Saturday, August 21 at The Mining & Rollo Jamison Museums

Mine Day commemorates the 50th Anniversary of the Grand Opening of the Mining Museum on August 21, 1971 and the 45th Anniversary of the re-opening of the Bevans Mine in 1976.  It is a celebration of the pioneering spirit of ingenuity, inquiry, enterprise and development that shaped the mining district as well as our Museum.

Join us from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a day of free family fun, festivities, and half-price Mine Tours!  Come to see live demonstrations of blacksmithing, a pneumatic drill, lapidary arts, rocketry, and carbide lamps.  Enjoy family-focused activities such as our new mini-mill treasure table; earth science, gem, and mineral exhibition; and live acoustic music by Corey Jenny.  Steve Bussan, author of "Mining In the Driftless," will deliver a talk and book signing at 3:30.  Winners of the Pick & Gad Raffle will be drawn at 3 p.m.  A $20 raffle ticket could win a Grand Prize, of $1,000, a Second Prize of $500, a Third Prize of $200, or one of seven $40 prizes!  Raffle tickets can be purchased at the Museums any time before the drawing.
