Platteville Art, Trails and History Open House Scheduled for August 17 at 7:00 p.m.
PLEASE NOTE: This meeting will take place at the Platteville Public Library.
The City of Platteville’s Museum Department was recently awarded a National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Our Town grant for the PATH Project. Join friends and neighbors at an Open House on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 7:00 pm in the Platteville Public Library’s Community Room to learn more about this exciting new project.
PATH stands for Platteville Art, Trails and History. The PATH Project, led by a group of community organizations and volunteers will use a year long collaborative planning process to develop a vision of and action plan for the future. The PATH project will engage a broad range of community members and institutions and strengthen cooperation among businesses, organizations, and institutions. The planning process will identify and build upon the community’s unique assets and help create strategies to promote a more diverse, vibrant, and sustainable economy that benefits the entire community. These strategies will capitalize on Platteville’s local identity to stimulate economic development; distinguish Platteville as an authentic, innovative community; highlight civic amenities; provide access to the arts for everyone in the community; and attract entrepreneurs, visitors, and students who are so critical to our local economy.
A community planning effort will be truly effective if the whole community comes out and makes their voices heard. This Open House is the first of many opportunities to participate in the PATH project. At the Open House, you’ll hear information on the overall project and its importance for everyone in the community, learn about the need for this project, get information on funding and resources, and find out how you can be involved. All are welcome and refreshments will be provided.
If you are interested in being involved but can’t make it to the meeting, please contact Diana Bolander, Museum Director, at museumdirector@platteville.org.
