CodeRED
The City of Platteville is launching CodeRED, a new community notification system, to send important alerts and time-sensitive messages to community members and visitors. Along with emergency and critical messages, the CodeRED notification system will also enhance community engagement through the release of important but non-emergency information such as road closures, spring/fall clean-up, recreation events, snow removal schedules and other city services and events
CodeRED will be replacing the City’s prior notification system, NIXLE. Community members that were receiving NIXLE messages, will have to sign-up with the new service.
CodeRED will deliver several benefits for residents and enable staff to more efficiently manage and distribute notifications before, during and after emergency and non-emergency events:
- Registration for this notification service is customizable, allowing users to choose how they receive the notifications and from which non-emergency notification groups they want to receive messages from.
- Residents can select several different notification methods including landline, cell phone, email, text message, TTY, or even a combination. These alerts can be specific to streets, neighborhoods or regions, so individuals within affected areas are sure to receive relevant information.
- Residents and visitors can keep track of alerts in our city with the CodeRED Mobile App, which notifies smartphone holders of real-time alerts in the area. Similar to the online registration, users choose which notifications they’d like to receive via the app.
All residents and businesses within the City of Platteville, are encouraged to Register Here for CodeRED and start receiving these informative alerts.
Non-residents may sign-up for notifications through the same web enrollment page, however, they will have to list or mark an address within the City of Platteville boundaries. Since messages are sometimes based on geographic location, a non-resident may get a message involving the selected address which may not be pertinent to them.
For more information on the CodeRED notification system or registration, please email CodeRED@platteville.org or contact Andrea Droessler at (608) 348-2313.
