Platteville Police Investigating Human Remains Found In City
On the evening of September 2, 2024, Platteville Police were alerted that two members of the public had located what they believed to be human remains, in a heavily wooded area of the city. Officers responded and located an unidentified, deceased subject.
Officers secured the area and requested assistance from the Wisconsin Department of Forensic Sciences, Crime Scene Response Unit (CSRU). Members of the CSRU arrived the morning of Sept 3, 2024, to assist Platteville Police Officers with processing the scene and recovering the human remains.
The Platteville Police Department is seeking to positively identify the decedent and continuing to investigate the circumstances of their death.
