First Graders Visit Platteville Fire Department

PFD Staff

As part of Fire Prevention Week, the Platteville Fire Department had a visit from Platteville first graders on Thursday, October 11th.  Students got to learn about the gear firefighters wear, some of the tools they use, and tour the Fire Station and trucks.  Fire Inspector Casey Pickel also provided information about smoke detectors and what to do in the event there is a fire in your home.

In addition to hosting school visits, the Platteville Fire Department held an open house on Monday, October 8th, and have been visiting schools and day care centers in recognition of October as National Fire Prevention Month.  Fire Prevention Month (and week) raises awareness about fire safety and home safety to help ensure your home and family are prepared in the case of an emergency.  Please take this time to discuss fire safety with your family/household.
