Calling All Artists, Performers, Writers, Musicians, Makers, and Creative Folks! PATH Needs You!

Platteville, Wisconsin (January 5, 2018) - Platteville Arts, Trails, and History (PATH) project is looking for input from artists and creative people of all stripes. PATH will be conducting a focus group on January 13th in the Community Room at the Platteville Public Library from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm. The focus group will discuss the strengths, challenges, and opportunities related to arts, culture, creativity, and history in the Platteville community from the perspective of folks who work in creative fields both formally and informally. PATH wants to hear your thoughts, suggestions, and ideas. Snacks and beverages will be provided.

PATH is also conducting a short survey aimed at artists, writers, performers, musicians, makers, and other creative folks to help determine what creative resources we already have in our community and what creative resources are needed. The survey should only take 10-15 minutes to complete and will collect different information than the focus group discussion. PATH encourages people to attend the focus group and complete the survey. The survey can be completed online through the link on our website – www.platteville.org/PATH - or paper copies are available at the Platteville Public Library, the Mining and Rollo Jamison Museums, and the Platteville Regional Chamber of Commerce.

PATH is a community arts and culture project funded by the National Endowment for the Arts Our Town program. The goal of PATH is to bring the community together to decide what makes Platteville special and how we can use arts and culture to promote these special qualities and make our community an even better place. PATH is being led by the City of Platteville, Arts Wisconsin, and community partners. The project will produce a Creative Community Plan for Platteville and a celebration project. The format of the celebration project will be decided through the planning process and community input; it could be a piece of public art, sculpture, mural, mosaic, musical performance, theater production, poetry reading, environmental project, or something else entirely. Watch for opportunities to participate in PATH events, meetings, and surveys and you can help decide.

Mark your calendars for the PATH community meeting on February 8th. Watch our website, Facebook page, and local media for additional information later in January. PATH will also be asking for community input through a community-wide survey that will go live at the end of the month.
