COVID-19 Testing Site in Platteville on June 17, 2020
Grant County, WI - A community COVID-19 drive-through testing site will open on Wednesday, June 17 from 9 AM to 4 PM at parking lot 28 on the UW-Platteville campus. The parking lot is located on Southwest Road across from Southwest Hall. Signage will direct participants. Walk-through testing is also available for those without transportation.
This testing site is open to anyone, regardless of residency, with the only restriction that all to be tested must be over the age of 5. Those wanting a COVID-19 test should call 608-723-1604 to schedule a time to be tested. A limited number of unscheduled walk-in openings will be available, so calling ahead will ensure the ability of all to be tested. Testing will be conducted using the nasal swab method and is free of charge. Members of the Wisconsin National Guard and the Grant County Health Department are coordinating this testing site in conjunction with the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and Grant County Emergency Management.
According to Grant County Health Officer/Director, Jeff Kindrai, “Community testing ensures that everyone who wants to be tested can get a test. It also provides a clearer picture of how COVID-19 is affecting our communities. As we continue to find positive cases, we can work to proactively slow the spread of the virus through guidance, education and action.”
Kindrai adds “We appreciate this opportunity to offer our community continued support through this valuable partnership. We’d like to thank UW-Platteville, Grant County Emergency Management, the State Emergency Operations Center, and the Wisconsin National Guard for assisting us in making this testing site a reality.”
