Masks No Longer Required In Municipal Facilities As Of March 1, 2022
On August 25, 2020, the City of Platteville Common Council passed Resolution 20-23 Requiring the Use of Face Masks in Municipal Buildings. Due to the new COVID-19 Community Levels guidance from the Center for Disease Control, effective Tuesday, March 1, 2022, the City of Platteville will no longer require masks to be worn within municipal facilities.
The City of Platteville encourages individuals to follow the Center for Disease Control guidance, where individuals may choose to continue to wear a mask at any time, and people with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask.
On February 25, 2022, the Center of Disease Control updated their policies and procedural recommendations based on a new tool called the COVID-19 Community Levels. The Center for Disease Control now looks at the combination of three metrics – new COVID-19 admissions per 100,000 population in the past 7 days, the percent of staffed inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients, and total new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 population in the past 7 days. The Center for Disease Control utilizes these metrics to determine the COVID-19 community levels which are classified as low, medium, or high.”
As of Monday February 28, 2022, the COVID-19 Community Level County Check indicates Grant County, Wisconsin is showing Low. The recommendation per the Center for Disease Control currently is the following:
- Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines.
- Get tested if you have symptoms.
- People may choose to mask at any time.
- People with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask.
