Utility Billing Specialist

The City of Platteville seeks a Utility Billing Specialist to manage utility accounts, billing/invoicing of water and sewer bills, collection of payment and provide support to the Finance Office and staff. Minimum starting wage of $19.68 - $21.37/hour, commensurate with experience. The City of Platteville offers unmatched employee benefits, including participation in Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS), health insurance with low monthly premiums and a $300 max out-of-pocket cost for care, generous paid time off (112 hours in first year plus additional sick leave), and employer paid life insurance and long-term disability.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly utility bills and other related bills and notices including final bills, past due notices and disconnect warning notices.
- Process new or cancelled accounts, meter changes, or other similar utility billing activities.
- Receive and post cash, check and credit card payments to customer accounts and prepare auto payments.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma, or GED equivalent
- 1 to 3 years related experience (billing, invoicing, accounts receivable, customer service)
- Demonstrated customer service skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in utility billing or government finance
- Post-Secondary education with course work in accounting
