Environmental Review Being Conducted for Cardinal–Hickory Creek Transmission Line

Area residents may notice crews collecting environmental survey data for wetlands, waterways, rare bird species and other habitat along existing transmission line right-of-way in our area. American Transmission Company (ATC) has notified the City that they are gathering environmental information for the Cardinal-Hickory Creek Transmission Line Project. The environmental consultants, Burns & McDonnell and Stantec, will conduct the data during daylight hours. Crews will park at the nearest road crossing and then walk existing transmission line right-of-way. The typical field equipment used will be a handheld soil probe/shovel, GPS receiver and cameras to document wildlife habitat conditions. All ground disturbances will be restored and nothing will be placed or left on private property.

The Platteville Common Council has notified ATC, the Public Service Commission and our legislative representatives of their opposition to the proposed route that places the Cardinal-Hickory Creek Transmission Line within and near the City of Platteville.  Residents can directly express any concerns by contacting Jon Callaway, American Transmission Company Senior Local Relations Representative, 866-899-3204, ext. 3540 or at jcallaway@atcllc.com
