Notice of Platteville Wastewater Treatment Plant Overflow Event on October 1st

The Platteville Wastewater Treatment Plant had an overflow event for a little over two hours from 6:48 PM to 9:05 PM on October 1, 2018.  Staff estimates an untreated overflow of approximately 50,000 gallons.  This was due to the extreme rain event of October 1, 2018 when approximately four (4) inches of rain fell in less than 24 hours.  The Platteville Wastewater Treatment Plant normally treats 900,000 gallons per day and treated 3.6 million gallons of wastewater over the last 24 hours.  The last overflow event at the Platteville Wastewater Treatment Plant was on September 20, 2018.  Staff estimates that they diverted 283,000 gallons in an attempt to prevent the overflow event.
