Update: No Rate Increase for Water Customers of the City of Platteville Water & Sewer Utility

Update 9/25/2019:  No Upcoming Water Rate Increase
There will not be a water rate increase effective October 15, 2019. The WI Public Service Commission (PSC) originally approved a 3% water increase based on results from a simplified rate case that the utility submitted. After further PSC review, the City of Platteville Water & Sewer department does not qualify to do a simplified rate case this year based on our current number of customers and the length of time that has elapsed since our last increase.

Original release:
This is to give you notice that the Platteville Water & Sewer Utility has filed an application on July 31, 2019 with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC), for authority to increase water rates. Rates for general service will increase three (3) percent. The increase is necessary to reduce the existing deficiency in present rates. The request is being made under Wis. Stat. 196.193. Rate increases granted under this statute do not require a public hearing. Click here to view the effects of the increase for some selected sample customers.

This rate increase will go into effect on October 15, 2019.
