Position Summary

The City of Platteville is seeking applicants for a full-time Administrative Assistant II to assist the Parks & Recreation department with event and programming coordination, including registrations, reservations, space access, fee collection, reporting, and general accounting functions. The position also serves the Public Works department with general clerical responsibilities and supports other City departments in a limited capacity. This position offers a generous benefit package and a minimum starting hourly wage of $19.43 (expected to increase to $20.01 on January 1st). Wage will be commensurate with experience.

Primary Responsibilities

  • General reception duties for City Hall patrons (answer phone calls, greet visitors, respond to inquiries, transfer/direct to appropriate departments/personnel).
  • Assist with coordination of event programming, maintenance, facility logistics, rentals, and/or operations of the Broske Event Center, Moundview Campground, park shelters, and other reservable event spaces. 
  • Maintain door access for City Hall and meeting/event spaces
  • Assists with recreation programming registrations and billing
  • Coordinates the Downtown Reserved Parking program
  • Composes the agendas of the Parks, Forestry & Recreation Committee, Airport Commission, Community Safe Routes Committee, and other assigned meetings, as well as news releases for the newspapers.  Post all approved minutes and agendas to the city website.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1-3 years of related work experience, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience
