FAQ: Recreation Programs
Below are some Frequently Asked Questions regarding the recreation programs. If you have additional questions, please call the Recreation office at 608-348-1833.
Soccer:
- Participants will be given a team t-shirt
- Shin guards are required
- Mouthguards are not required
- Cleats are not required, but they are allowed.
- if wearing cleats:
- No Toe Cleats
- No Metal Cleats
- if wearing cleats:
Golf:
Clubs needed (at least):
- Driver
- Putter
- A club - 7 iron or similar
- Pitching wedge
NFL Flag Football
- Every player will be required to wear a mouth guard during games and practice
- Each player will receive a replica NFL jersey.
Dance (Spring and Fall)
- dance attire is not required. Children should wear comfortable clothing they can move in.
Age Guidelines:
When registering, use the current school grade for fall, winter and spring programs. Pre-K programming is open to children age 3 and 4. When an age is specified, the age of the child at the start of the program should be used. Children must be toilet trained or in pull-ups. If a child is in pull-ups, the parent or caregiver must stay at the location during the program.
Residency Requirement:
Resident (R): A resident resides within the City of Platteville and pays property tax to the City of Platteville.
Non-Resident (NR): A non-resident resides outside the City of Platteville and/or does not pay property tax to the City of Platteville. Non-residents can include residents living in the Township of Platteville and Platteville School District.
How do I register for recreation programming?
To view and register for upcoming recreation programming please visit Active Network. If this is your first time using Active Network, you will need to create an account. Please allow at least one business day for your account to be approved. We can also assist with the registration process in the Recreation Office at 75 N. Bonson Street, Platteville, WI. Our office is open Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 pm. Please stop in or call us at 608-348-9741 ext. 2238 for help creating an account, registering for programs, or with any questions about program offerings.
How will I know if a recreation or aquatic program has been cancelled?
Programs are occasionally cancelled due to excessive heat or inclement weather. Cancellations occurring during normal office hours will be posted on the Recreation Hotline. You can reach the Recreation Hotline by calling (608) 348-4067. Cancellations are also posted on the Parks & Recreation Facebook page.
Aquatic programs, such as swim lessons or swim team practice, can be cancelled due to inclement weather. Notices will be posted on the Platteville Family Aquatic Center Facebook page and on the Pool phone, under the notification option.
