Legion Field Dairy Barn/Art Hall Replacement Opportunity Meeting to be held September 18 at 6 p.m.
Inspiring Community Inc. invites all people interested in replacing the Legion Field ‘Art Hall/Dairy Barn’ to a public meeting on Tuesday September 18th at 6 PM in the Legion Field Art Hall/Dairy Barn. The building is heavily used, is in a very poor physical state and has become unsightly. This building apparently was originally built by volunteers and in kind materials. It could be again. We have seen our community come together to build a trail, furnish the library, construct the Veterans Memorial, and tend to Katie's Garden. We know we have the ability to replace this building through a public/private joint endeavor. The City of Platteville has allocated $50,000 to this endeavor and another area entity has committed $10,000. An anonymous donor has also committed a challenge grant of $100,000 for this project. That brings the total challenge match to $160,000 available if this project goes forward. If you are interested in supporting this effort or in being part of the leadership committee that will determine the final specifications and acquire the funding to make this happen, please attend the public meeting at 6PM Tuesday September 18th at the Art Hall.
You can expect:
- an engineering report on the current status of building
- comments from city staff as it relates to a possible plan for renovation and a possible plan for replacement
- After the presentations, there will be time for discussion and questions as well as the determination of “next steps.”
Plan now to attend.
