Budget

Administration Director Valerie Martin with New Phone

This month the CIty implemented a new Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) phone system. The VOIP project was managed by our outgoing Administration Director, Valerie Martin. Valerie is leaving us to pursue an even more noble cause, teaching business skills to high school students in Cassville. She did a fantastic job bringing in this new technology and is leaving us on a high note.

The City sells bonds to investors when we need to complete a major capital project, such as reconstructing a street. The buyers of the bonds are basically loaning money that the City pays back over a period of ten to twenty years. Like a mortgage on a house, the City’s total payment includes both principal and interest payments.

I’ll fallen behind on my blog due to the tremendous amount of work that went into the 2017 budget.  I think both Administration Director Valerie Martin and I would say that we went through all the stages of the grieving process during the budget process…disbelief, denial, anger, self-pity ... and finally…. acceptance.
