City Issues Statement Retraction and Apology to Holman Lawn Care and Snow Removal, LLC
At the Tuesday, December 10, 2024 Common Council meeting, Public Works Director Howard Crofoot stated that Holman Lawn Care and Snow Removal, LLC was the contractor for the 2023 – 2024 snow removal season and made a substantial increase in prices for snow removal between the two seasons. That is incorrect as they were not the contractor for the 2023-2024 snow removal season. Director Crofoot and the City of Platteville apologize to Holman Lawncare and Snow Removal, LLC and the Holman family.
Snow and Ice Removal:
Per Chapter 4 of the Municipal Code, City ordinances require that snow/ice is removed from the full-width of sidewalks within 36 hours of a snow event. If the sidewalk remains uncleared after 36 hours, city contractors will be called out and property owners will be charged for the service.
This season, there was only one bid submitted for Snow and Ice Removal contracted services. In addition to city administrative fees, the contractor will charge $300 minimum per location or per hour for snow removal only, OR $500 per location or per hour for snow and ice removal with salting. Please consider planning ahead if you feel that you may need assistance clearing your sidewalks.
On behalf of the residents of Platteville, thank you for keeping your sidewalk clear so pedestrians in our community can travel safely.
