City of Platteville Spring Clean-up to be held Monday, June 8 and Tuesday, June 9, 2020

The City of Platteville annual Spring Clean-up has been rescheduled for Monday, June 8 and Tuesday, June 9, 2020, with pick up the same day as your normal refuse collection. Items must be placed neatly at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the day of pick up. This service is provided to one and two family dwellings only. All items must be stacked neatly and be in a pile no larger than 10’ x 4’ x 4’. Scrap metal should be stacked neatly separate from other refuse. Scrap metal and yard waste does not count toward the maximum size limit.

Specific items that will not be picked up include: batteries and tires, appliances including microwaves, refuse from major construction and remodeling projects, oil, anti-freeze, insecticides, and hazardous chemicals. Boy Scout Troop 82 will collect appliances for a donation. Please call (608) 778-0707 to arrange appliance pick up. Electronics (computers, printers, computer monitors, computer mouse, keyboards, and all accessories, televisions, DVD players, VCR’s, DVR’s, fax machines and cell phones) will not be picked up. Garden and yard waste is included in the Spring Clean-up. Please have these items curbside by Sunday evening (June 7) and placed separately from weekly garbage. City $1.00 bags are not required during this special pick up only. If you have questions concerning the clean up, contact the Department of Public Works at (608) 348-9741, extension 2238.

BRUSH/LIMB DISPOSAL
The City of Platteville picks up brush and limbs the week of the first and third Monday of the month. Please have your brush/limbs out early as once the chipper has cycled, it will not return until the next scheduled week. This service is limited to limbs up to 12 inches in diameter and a length that requires no more than two people to pull it from the curb to the chipper. Brush and limbs must be placed at the curb with the cut end toward the curb and stacked in a neat and orderly fashion.

YARD WASTE DISPOSAL
Yard waste is to be placed in the $1.00 Platteville bags and laid at the curb for pick-up on Thursdays. Bags can be purchased in the Finance Office at City Hall, Heiser Hardware and Piggly Wiggly.
