Office Relocation Due To City Hall Renovation Has Begun

City Hall Office Relocation Diagram

The first phase of a three-year remodeling project of the interior of City Hall will begin in July. The project will replace an aging HVAC system, address poor indoor air quality, and provide a more efficient and secure office layout.

First and second-floor staff (excluding Finance and Water/Sewer billing staff) have began relocating to the former police station in the east part of the building while construction takes place.  The relocation to the temporary office space is planned to last approximately one year. The Finance and Water & Sewer offices will remain in their current location until they permanently move to the south side of the first floor in late 2019. Access to the Council Chambers and Municipal Auditorium is not expected to be impacted by the project.

Office relocation timelines are as follows:

Community Development/Housing Authority Office – relocated, use door N2
City Manager/City Clerk Office – relocated, use door N1
Parks and Recreation/Public Works Office – relocated, use door N1

The total project is expected to cost approximately $750,000, which is considerably less than the $3,000,000 estimated for a remodel in 2012.  Additionally, since the project is being spread over three years, no outside financing will be necessary.
