Board of Review
The Board of Review is a statutorily required local board charged with the duty of correcting any errors in property assessment that it determines have been made. It is a quasi-judicial body whose duty is to hear sworn oral testimony regarding assessed values and to decide, based on that testimony, whether an individual has proven the Assessor’s valuation incorrect.
The Board of Review must meet at the Municipal Building within a 45 day period beginning on the 4th Monday of April, pursuant to s. 70.47(1), Wis. Stats. The meeting may last longer than one day.
The Board of Review shall consist of five members members; all members shall be residents of the City. The members shall be appointed by the President of the Common Council, subject to confirmation of the Common Council. The members shall be appointed for terms of five years.

In order to provide property owners with more flexibility in being able to speak with the assessor, beginning in 2022 Accurate Appraisal will offer an extended period of Open Book via phone. The assessor will be available for calls to discuss property values from the time assessment notices are received until 48 hours before the Board of Review convenes.
Accurate Appraisal will also provide a 2-hour roll viewing open book period meant for community members to view the roll per state law requirements. Click here to view the 2023 initial Roll Book.
The 2024 Open Book/Tax Roll Viewing and Board of Review dates are as follows:
- Open Book virtual - August 27 and September 3
- Open Book in-person - August 28-29
- Board of Review - Thursday, October 3 at noon
