Community Safe Routes Committee Creates Bike & Pedestrian Draft Plan For City Of Platteville

In June 2023, The Community Safe Routes Committee began working with Southwestern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission to create a Bike & Pedestrian Plan for the City of Platteville.

The Joint Extraterritorial Committee consists of three (3) members of the City Council, and the three (3) members from the Town Board. The Joint ET Committee was established to help manage and coordinate land use activity in the Extraterritorial Zoning Area and Extraterritorial Plat Review Area of the City of Platteville.

The License Committee reviews questionable license applications prior to submission to the full Council. Any questionable application could be delayed or denied approval upon recommendation of the License Committee to the Common Council. The License Committee may also be used to review and make recommendations for  other licensing issues that may come forth for the City.

The License Committee consists of 3 Council members appointed annually by the President.

Effective 1/29/2012, the Park Board was changed to a committee formation (Parks, Forestry, and Recreation Committee). The Committee’s purpose is to develop and maintain a well-coordinated system of parks and forestry within the City of Platteville and to develop and implement meaningful recreational activities for the citizens of the community.

The Parks, Forestry, and Recreation Committee meets the 3rd Monday of each month at 5:00pm in the City Hall North Conference Room.

The Platteville Public Transportation Committee was formed to develop and promote a system of public transportation in various modes to support the needs of residents and UW– Platteville students, particularly handicapped and other disadvantaged populations within the City. 

The committee will recommend bus routes, fares, and other operational details for the bus system.  They will provide their recommendations to the Common Council for final approval.

The Tourism Committee shall provide advice & recommendations to the Council on the expenditure of Room Tax receipts collected for “tourism promotion and development”. The Committee, if requested by the council, may make requests for and conduct a review of proposals for the funding specific marketing projects, transient information services, or tangible municipal development related to tourism promotion and development.

The Tourism Committee meets at least quarterly.

Industry Park Covenant Committee – Meets as needed, at the request of the PAIDC Executive Director.

The Platteville Industry Park has adopted protective covenants to guide the development standards at the park.  The Covenant Committee meets to review development plans at the park and ensure that they meet the requirements of the protective covenants.  

Committee consists of 5 members - 3 landowners and 2 PAIDC members (until 50% of the land is sold and improved with buildings, then 4 landowners and 1 PAIDC member)
